2010: Holy Year of Xacobeo |
 |
 |
| |

If you always wanted to do the Camino de Santiago, or St. James Way, you should grab your chance in the holy year 2010!
The Jubilee Year of Compostela has been celebrated since the middle ages, whenever the feast day of the Apostle Saint James, 25th July, fell on a Sunday. Throughout the year there will be all kinds of activities such as temporary exhibitions and the more stable permanent events such as museums, interpretation centres and publications. There will be historical and modern art exhibitions and a complete program of sports, arts, cultural and social events throughout Galicia, including thinking forums and conference cycles, a performing arts program and small, medium and large scale concerts and obviously, all this will attract much more pilgrims than in normal years.
Bike Spain Tours can offer you 11 dates on which we start our guided tour in 2010, with the Monday the 19th of July as our special departure date which will reach Santiago de Compostela on Sunday the 25th of July. If you prefer to do the Camino without guiding we can offer you a trip in which we book your hotels, arrange a bike for you and provide you with maps and road books.
Because of the higher interest in the Camino in 2010 we recommend not to wait too long to place your booking. The next chance you have to do El Camino the Santiago in a holy year won’t be until 2021! |

Tours
Madrid en Paradores |
 |
 |
| |
We have added the option to do the Madrid tour in Paradors to our tours in the area. Paradors are hotels situated in nature reserves and in historic buildings, such as castles, palaces, convents and monasteries. Some of the Paradors are centuries old.
The Paradors we use for the Madrid tour are the following:
La Granja: This Parador is living proof of the rich architectural legacy of the Royal Site. The hotel is located in the Casa de los Infantes, constructed in the 18th century by Charles III to house Princes Gabriel and Antonio.
Ávila: Situated in the historic quarter of the sizeable town of Ávila, this Parador is installed within the former "Piedras Albas" Palace, backing onto the impressive city walls. In keeping with its surroundings, the hotel's interior has a warm and intimate feel creating a very refreshing atmosphere, enriching your time spent there. Its beautiful decorative features include granite and adobe floors, bright colours and spacious rooms, some with four poster beds.
Toledo: On the hill called Cerro del Emperador by a meander of the river Tajo, this hotel in Toledo offers an unequalled panorama of the monumental silhouette, with its greatest jewels, the Cathedral, the Alcázar and the synagogues. In the hotel you can also enjoy the refreshing swimming pool and plan outdoor leisure activities.
Chinchón:
Founded by the Lords of Chinchón in the 17th century, this former Augustinian convent houses monumental character set amongst that of Chinchón old town, with its emblematic Plaza Mayor main square. Cypress trees, roses and wild privets in the garden give a beautiful appearance, finished by the marvellous cloister and softened by the blue water in the pool.
Don’t miss the opportunity to experience these unique hotels during your stay in Spain! |
